Canton, CONNECTICUT – February 24, 2011 – Invata Intralogistics, Inc., a global provider of supply chain and facilities optimization, software and controls, today announced the acquisition of intellectual property and other assets from Cape Systems, a provider of supply chain management technologies. The deal includes software originally developed by Data Control Systems (DCS), including the brand names eWMS®, PicRite®, PutRite®, CartRite®, TurnRite® and their Order Fulfillment System (OFS), and Transportation Management System (TMS) products. All of the existing pick-to-light system intellectual property, including newly developed display and network technologies, were included in the sale.
The purchased software and controls technologies are installed in more than 60 leading US retail and business-to-business brands including: Newell Rubbermaid, IBM, Rite Aid, Chico’s, Tiffany & Company, Cooper Tools, PartyLite Gifts, Estee Lauder, Regis, Bristol Meyers Squibb, Abbott Labs, Pfizer, and many others.
“The technology transfer is a strategic acquisition for Invata on several levels; first, Invata has acquired a proven and well designed software suite that can be implemented as the core of a global warehouse solution, from WMS [Warehouse Management System] and WCS [Warehouse Control System], through zone management and controls. Second, we were able to add depth and experience to our application engineering, software development and support staff,” said Ryan Sheehan, Executive Vice President of Invata, adding that, “We’ve also increased our customer portfolio with some great brands.” Invata also plans to release a number of the acquired products for sale through its dealer/integrator sales channel.
Kevin Reader, Invata CMO, said, “From a business model perspective, this acquisition is another component of our global strategy to take the lead as an independent systems integration company. Invata is also differentiated by its flexible, fast and reliable software and controls platform and expertise, versus larger asset based manufacturers that have substantial overhead and are more at-risk during economic downturns.”
Tim Callahan, Invata VP Sales, and former DCS President and CEO, will lead sales efforts for the new portfolio of products. Dave Sasson, Invata VP System Integration, and former Cape Systems COO, will manage the transition and customer support efforts.
Invata also announced it has employed the Cape Systems software and support staff, and will assume operation of Cape System’s NJ support, pick-to-light and hardware repair facility, effective immediately. Both decisions ensure former Cape Systems clients receive uninterrupted service and support while being quickly integrated into the Invata organization.
