Invata Intralogistics has an immediate position available for an entry level Systems Design Engineer to work in our expanding office in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The person filling this Systems Design Engineer position will be responsible for supporting the design and engineering effort for Invata’s state-of-the-art warehouse automation systems. Invata automated systems incorporate conveyors, sorters, AS/RS, and various steel structures such as mezzanines and racking that leverage the extensive capabilities of Invata’s FastTrak warehouse software.
This position entails presales efforts as well as post sale implementation and support.
Presale includes creating visualizations of conceptual designs in both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional drawings. The Systems Design Engineer then estimates these designs using internal estimating tools as well as tools from our supplier partners. Clear concise communication skills are needed to effectively assess and coordinate estimates with external resources such as installation contractors and manufacturers. Excellent technical writing skills are needed to assist in the development of proposals and presentation materials. The ability to quickly adapt to new requirements in order to meet client needs is essential.
Post sale you will work as part of a team that takes the conceptual designs and turns them into the details needed for a successful installation and integration. This means working closely with our controls engineering, software, and integration engineers to ensure every detail is defined and documented and that field operations/client turnover go smoothly. Extensive communication with suppliers is needed to ensure that quality and schedules are adhered to, while keeping within established budgets.
Travel will be required for site surveys, construction support, and as part of the integration/training team.
AutoCAD Expertise a Must:
- Candidates must have a minimum of an associate’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering technology.
- The candidate must be an expert in the use of AutoCAD, with education, knowledge and experience in drafting principles/practices.
- Previous experience in the material handling industry and experience with 3 dimensional modeling software such as Inventor is also desirable.
- Proficiency is required in all MS Office products.
